Trên Windows 10, Microsoft đã thay thế Windows Photo Viewer bằng ứng dụng Photos mặc định. Tuy nhiên, Windows Photo Viewer vẫn còn trong hệ thống, chỉ là bị ẩn đi. Bạn có thể kích hoạt lại Windows Photo Viewer bằng cách chỉnh sửa registry hoặc sử dụng file .reg đã cấu hình sẵn.
Dưới đây là cách đơn giản nhất để lấy lại Windows Photo Viewer:
- Bước 1: Tự tạo file Restore_Photo_Viewer.reg để lấy lại Windows Photo Viewer
+ Mở Notepad: Tại khung tìm kiếm trên Windows gõ: Notepad nhấn Enter để tìm mở phần mềm này:
+ Trên Notepad mở file mới, dán nội dung sau vào:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Photo Viewer\Capabilities\FileAssociations]
".jpg"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
".jpeg"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
".png"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
".bmp"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
".gif"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
+ Lưu lại với tên: Restore_Photo_Viewer.reg
(lưu ý tên file có: .reg)
+ File sau khi lưu có hình ảnh như sau:
- Bước 2: Chạy file Restore_Photo_Viewer.reg / Chọn Yes
Nhấn OK ở hộp thoại xuất hiện kế tiếp:

Lưu ý: Để gán mặc định cho Windows mỗi lần mở hình ảnh sẽ bằng phần mềm Windows Photo Viewer. Ta làm như sau:
+ Nhấp chuột phải vào ảnh → Open with > Choose another app
+ Chọn Windows Photo Viewer
+ Tích vào Always use this app to open .jpg files
+ Nhấp chuột phải vào ảnh → Open with > Choose another app
+ Chọn Windows Photo Viewer
+ Tích vào Always use this app to open .jpg files
